Episode 8 of my irregular photo journal - Ми за Україну!

Ukraine is not alone. Millions of people all around the world voice their support across many major cities from New York and London to Berlin and Tbilisi and even Moscow, St. Petersburg, Jekaterinburg in Russia. Putin has lost without the war even being over. His army, as of the fourth day of the cowardly invasion, is failing to capture Ukraine. His main target, president Zelenskyj, is hailed as a hero all around the world due to his presence on the line with the soldiers and fighters. Killing him would just turn him into a martyr. The EU and many other countries are openly supporting Ukraine with money and military supplies. Sanctions against Russia are at an all-time high and support for the current man in charge is rapidly decreasing in Russia.

To top it off, Putin has made sure to be seen as an absolutely insane autocrat by openly threatening the world with nuclear weapons. He’s pretty much solidified his position next to some of the worst leaders in history books.

My country, the Czech Republic, is sending weapons, ammunition and other aid to Ukraine. Czech citizens along with many Ukrainians, Slovakians, Poles and Russians are protesting all across the country to voice their support for the Ukrainian fight and their disdain towards Putin. Today, on the 27th of February 2022, we held a massive protest of some 60-80 000 people on Wenceslas Square. It was a day full of camaraderie, hope and, most of all, unity. You gotta give it to Putin. Nobody’s managed to unite the world as well as he did in just four days.
